The U.S. Federal Government has had the authorization to award prizes in biomedical research for several years, and multiple Institutes and Centers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have participated (see http://www.challenge.gov and sort by the “National Institutes of Health” for more information). The National Institute on Aging (NIA) has recently released a Request for Information (RFI) to collect public input on three specific ideas that the Institute is considering for a Challenge prize on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias research, and importantly, to collect additional suggestions for what the Institute might establish as a prize goal. Additional background information is provided in the RFI:
- All questions and comments must be submitted electronically to NIAPrizeInput@nih.gov.
- Responses must be received by 11:59:59 pm (ET) on December 31, 2017.
The Institute encourages and welcomes your input. Please share this announcement widely.
